KISS: Keep it short and simple :-P

Hey everyone!

Now it's my turn once again. In order to react to Tim Tannhof's request to keep the blog entries a bit shorter, I would like to briefly share my first impressions of Poli with you.

Yesterday, I had my first Finance class, which was entirely held in Spanish (Dana was actually free the whole day, which I find quite unfair ;-)). After the teacher had talked about the most important rules and regulations, one student was given 3 pages of instructions to be read out loud. After a few sentences, I lost interest and went to Facebook. This was quite a tough challenge, as FB requested me to recognise a few friends in order to reactivate my account. This happened due to the fact that I had never logged in with a Colombian PC before.

Ok, back to Finance....I believed that I had understood everything, until some very supportive students came to me, giving me their email addresses and cell phone numbers. I have never encountered such a nice and friendly behaviour before. I asked them, what the teacher had said exactly and it turned out that I understood most of it....:-P, meaning that I misunderstood the minor but important details hahaha. It needs to be said though that all people (students and professors) really appreciate our efforts and willingness to learn the Spanish language.

Today, we had another class- communication and sustainable development. It was supposed to be taught in English, but it also appeared to be in Spenglish, since it is given to students of two different studies, IBMS and Media. Nevertheless there are some positive aspects: We can raise questions in English and have to write a report that can be submitted in English as well. So, another Spanish CRASHCOURSE!!!

The highlight of the day was, when the communication teacher took us to Daisy, our programme coordinator. She helped us to change our schedules, respectively to postively adapt it. As we are planning to attend a Spanish course at another university in the evenings, we needed to rearrange our horrarios. Moreover, Dana decided to have an additional Finance class (in Spanish) and we both chose logisitics (in English). Thus we had to abandon another English class. So from the language point of view, it was no improvement.

All in all, the short blog entry turned out to be longer than planned initially....sorry Tim!!!

Hasta la proxima ves!
