Long time, no post!

Hi everybody!

Fist of all, I would like to apologize for my long absence. The reason for that was that there has not been much to write about, since we/I had a lot of exams and the location, which I wanted to visit during the easter vacation was flooded.

However, I have been to my host family's finka in Silvania and to Cota, another small place located close to Bogotá. Unfortunately, the camera memory card broke, meaning that I could not upload any pictures...bad luck :-)

Furthermore, I would like to use that post also to give a short overview of a few obvious (and sometimes even funny) differences between Colombia and Germany/Europe:

1. Some time ago I discovered that not just milk is sold in (movable!) plastic bigs, but also regular water. Therefore, you need a kind of can to actually open and serve the milk without major accidents :-D!

2. I finally made use of the small and informal street shops, that sell all kinds of candy, offer you cheap phone calls and even recharge your phone. Actually, this is a great service, especially for charging your phone, because regular supermarkets usually are relatively crowded.

3. I am still very sad that I could not bring my guitar here...As a substitute for that, some people regularly enter the bus and start playing the guitar, singing, making a beat box or singing with a playback from a small loudspeaker. Yesterday, there even was a funny guy with a motor cycle helmet (IN THE BUS!), providing the singers with some support. This is very entertaining and is more enjoyable than all the pen and candy sellers you meet in the bus the rest of the time (Though I have to admit, that I have also bought candies and pens from these people :-P)

Finally, as some of you might know, I have a flu for the third time already. I think this happened, due to the rapid changes of weather conditions. While it can be warm and sunny in one moment, it starts raining and gets quite cold in the other.

Nevertheless, I am still enjoying my time here, Dana as well of course!
Next week is our final (exam) week! Hence, we are starting to be excited about the trips we already planned (and booked).

See you soon in Germany or Holland!

Flo
